These drawings play off of the phenomenon of total internal reflection in which a wave (often of light) strikes a medium boundary at an angle that causes it to stay trapped underneath the surface. In each drawing, an initial geometric shape is drawn point to point like a constellation, then using thread I translate that form. I worked with my collaborator Curt D. Miller to use this way of drawing in an installation that would be effected by sound: Two drawings exist on two separate screens. One is chaotic, the other compact. The louder the volume is, the more the compact drawing progresses to the chaotic drawing and vice versa.
